Practical Reserve Work (Sunart Reserves)
We are looking for work party volunteers to join us on our Sunart Reserves at Glenborrodale and Glencripesdale. These reserves are fantastic examples of Scotland’s Rainforest and are special places for people and wildlife, but they need a bit of extra care to keep them in top condition. Volunteers can make a huge contribution to keeping these habitats thriving and in good shape.
Work parties provisionally take place on the third Wednesday of the month, but we’ll contact you when a work party is planned, and you can confirm if you’re available. You don’t need to attend every time, just when it suits you. Access to the reserves is limited by car park capacity, therefore numbers on the day will be restricted. We may visit either reserve and work is highly weather-dependent, so plans can change at short notice.
What you’ll do
As a Reserve Work Party Volunteer you will be able to help undertake a range of seasonal practical habitat management tasks. Activities may include:
• Cutting and clearing invasive species and other vegetation
• Tree planting and seed collection
• Maintaining infrastructure (paths, fences) and archaeological sites
• Assisting with wildlife surveys
• Maintaining tools and equipment
• Following Health and Safety protocols
What’s in it for You?
• Training provided – No experience needed; we’ll teach you everything.
• Supportive team – Work alongside friendly staff and volunteers.
• Learn new skills – Gain practical conservation experience.
• Stay active – Enjoy physical outdoor work that benefits your wellbeing.
• Make an impact – Help protect vital habitats for wildlife.
