Café Volunteer (Ham Wall reserve)
Do you enjoy being amongst nature, meeting new people or want to gain experience in a hospitality role? We are looking for volunteers to help run the popular and friendly kiosk facility on our nature reserve, supporting the conservation work we do here.
As part of our catering team, you will help to ensure that visitors have a fantastic and memorable visit. When people visit our kiosk, we give them a smile and a warm greeting, they are promptly served and can enjoy their light refreshments in relaxing and clean surroundings. All this work requires a team of friendly and supportive people to help out. We simply can't run our cafés without volunteers.
During your shift, you will be helping customers with hot/cold drinks and pre-packaged takeaway snacks, talking to customers about what's on offer and keeping the facility spick and span. You might also be helping visitors by talking about wildlife and answering questions about the reserve with the help of our fundraisers. Full training will be provided.
The volunteer team work on a flexible rota to cover the needs of the site - this could be anything from twice a month to a regular shift once per week. We are looking for people who could help cover Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday slots.
This role is suitable for volunteers over 18 years of age.
Our volunteers enjoy a host of benefits, including social events, volunteer discount and reimbursement of travel expenses. As part of your role, you will learn new skills and gain experience working in catering, including great transferable skills such as customer service and people engagement. The money raised on site directly contributes to nature conservation, so you are also helping to save nature!
