When: April 2022 - October 2021 Commitment: 5 days per week Duration: 6 months

Why We Want You

We are looking for an enthusiastic residential volunteer to help with reserve management, monitoring and visitor work on this internationally important reserve. You will be a key member of the reserve team as we go into our summer work programme. Assist with the monitoring of species such as Bittern, Marsh Harrier, Bearded Tit and Tree Sparrow. Help to manage our herd of Konik ponies and carry out estate management, species protection and visitor centre work.

What’s In It For You

During your stay, you will become a member of the reserve management team. You will contribute to practical conservation and learn about running and managing a nature reserve.

This is an excellent chance to make a genuine contribution to wildlife conservation. You will gain a valuable insight into the workings of Europe’s largest conservation charity.

Accommodation and appropriate training will be provided and pre-agreed expenses will be re-imbursed where necessary.

Requirements

You need to be aged over 18, and be enthusiastic, with the ability to work as part of a team, have an interest in conservation and the willingness to undertake strenuous manual labour outside in all weathers. A full clean driving licence is essential.

You must be able to transport yourself to and from the shops, either by car or alternative means. We are unable to provide transportation at this time.

Notes

Blacktoft Sands is a covid-secure workplace and we are following and committed to government and internal guidance to ensure that the office, accommodation and reserves are safe for staff, volunteers and visitors.
