Site Checks and Maintenance Volunteer (Buildings Repair Course)
This volunteer role is specifically for people attending the Buildings Maintenance Course at RSPB Old Moor on Saturday 9th April, 10-4pm. You can find this event here: https://events.rspb.org.uk/events/14568
Come and support the RSPB and learn new skills! We are excited to be able to offer a traditional lime mortar repair day at RSPB Old Moor led by Tracy Brindley, heritage building specialist and conservation bricklayer. The repairs will be made to the original farm buildings, built in 1755, and now used as the Visitor Centre and offices for the RSPB’s nature reserve at Old Moor, near Wombwell. You will learn how lime mortar is used in traditional buildings, how to resolve maintenance issues and different methods of repair and then carry out your own repairs on the site’s buildings.
Course date: Saturday 9th April, 10am to 4pm Maximum of 6 people
The cost of the course is £45 to cover materials and PPE. All students will be asked to sign up as an RSPB Volunteer so they for insurance and Health & Safety reasons. After the course, you may want to remain as one of our volunteers and put your new skills to good use, or we can take you off our volunteering system after the event.
