Volunteer Coordinator (Volunteer Monitoring of Farm Wildlife Project- Fieldwork Coordinator)
We are running a project in Wiltshire where volunteers carry out wildlife surveys on farms and are looking for someone to help our Conservation Officer co-ordinate these surveys. The Volunteer Monitoring of Farm Wildlife (VMFW) project aims to link volunteers, both experienced and new, with farmers across England to survey their on-farm wildlife. Our vision is for a sustainable, cost-effective volunteer wildlife survey service for farmers that generates tangible conservation benefits. The Fieldwork Co-ordinator role is a home-based role carried out mainly online or by telephone and you can be based anywhere in the UK. As the fieldwork co-ordinator you would support the Conservation Officer undertaking the following tasks; • link volunteers with farms and monitor the progress of the surveys • collect the survey information at the end of the season and forward to our digital team • co-ordinated the dissemination of results to the farmers You’ll need the following skills • excellent organisation and attention to detail • a great people person- friendly and approachable • computer literacy and ability to work from home • some knowledge of wildlife surveys, particularly butterfly, pollinator or bumblebee would be beneficial, or a willingness to learn about these if don’t have already. Appropriate training will be provided, and expenses will be reimbursed where necessary. You will be provided with an RSPB laptop and set up with access to the RSPB computer network so you can comfortably carry out your role at home. This is a rewarding and enjoyable role being part of a small and friendly team of staff and volunteers. It is a great chance to gain experience in working with people of all ages and to learn new skills and develop existing ones. There is room for development within the role if this is something you’d like to do.
