Community Volunteer (Community Engagement)
Could you inform and enthuse people of all ages and backgrounds about the RSPB and our sites in the Dearne Valley? Deliver talks and activities for community groups and the general public at community events.
RSPB Old Moor is a wildlife reserve between Rotherham and Barnsley, within easy reach of local communities. We are keen to become better known and connect people of all ages to our reserves and what we do through our friendly team of Community Engagement volunteers who deliver talks, walks and activities out in the community.
This role might be for you if:
- You are passionate about wildlife and conservation and would like to share that with others
- You are a people person, friendly and confident to engage with new people and start a conversation.
- You are a good public speaker
- You are enthusiastic and creative and could lead activities for children and families at community events
- You would love to get people of all ages excited about the wildlife around them and how they can take action to protect it
- You would like to raise the profile of the RSPB within local communities.
You would be part of a team of volunteers in this role, seeking out opportunities for community engagement and responding to requests for talks or information stalls at events. Your time commitment to the role would be flexible, responding as opportunities for talks or events arise. The role will involve volunteering during evenings or at weekends. Access to a car and a driving license would be useful in this role- mileage will be reimbursed.
In this role, you can deliver events and talks in a way which plays to your strengths; we’d welcome your ideas and creativity for developing resources and delivering content. Utilise your enthusiasm for nature to make a positive difference in local communities and increase what the RSPB can achieve.
The RSPB is committed to making our organisation diverse and inclusive, and, as such, are keen to encourage applications from everyone, of all ethnic backgrounds, as well as those with disabilities.
We look forward to hearing from you!
