Visitor Engagement Volunteer (On Reserves) (Live Interpretation Volunteer – RSPB Mousa)

RSPB Mousa is an island reserve with thousands of visitors every year, accessible by boat between April - Sept. There's so much to discover at RSPB Mousa, from the incredible wildlife, to the 2,300 year old Mousa broch.

We are looking for enthusiastic, outgoing individuals who can engage with our visitors while they are out and about on the RSPB Mousa reserve to enhance the visitor experience. The role holder will aid visitors with wildlife identification and give information on how the reserve is managed and the special species that live here. The role is also about encouraging people to give nature a home where they live and answering any general questions visitors have about Mousa, wildlife and the RSPB work across Shetland and further afield.

The skills you need • Knowledge of local wildlife and the importance of its conservation. • An infectious enthusiasm for nature. • The ability to communicate with visitors from all walks of life with differing knowledge and interest levels. • The ability to listen and respond appropriately • An awareness of the RSPB and ability to communicate what we do. • The ability to inspire visitors to give nature a home where they live. • An awareness of Health and Safety.

Appropriate training and equipment will be provided and expenses will be reimbursed where necessary. This opportunity is for ages 18+.
