Residential on Reserve (More than 4 weeks) (Haweswater, the Lake District National Park)

Why We Want You:

We are looking for a volunteer who is keen to join our small reserve team with a real enthusiasm for making a positive change in the English uplands. Work involves dry stone walling, repair and maintenance of fences and farm buildings, helping in our tree nursery and Badger hide, species monitoring,and you’ll regularly find yourself surrounded by dramatic, breathtaking scenery.

What's In It For You

You’ll become a vital part of our team, helping us to manage our large reserve in the Lake District National Park to benefit wildlife, water quality and people. You will have many opportunities to immerse yourself in the landscape while carrying out important estate management and monitoring work. You will develop a range of practical skills, including dry stone walling and help with the running of our farm. You will live in our traditional Lakeland farmhouse, surrounded by wooded hills and gain a valuable insight into the workings of Europe's largest conservation charity.

Requirements:

You will need enthusiasm, self motivation, the ability to work both as part of a team and alone. You should be prepared to work outdoors in all kinds of weather. You must be comfortable living alone in a remote rural setting with wildlife on your doorstep! Your own transport is recommended but not essential.

You must be 18 or over.

Accommodation, including bills, provided.

Appropriate training will be provided and pre-agreed expenses will be re-imbursed where necessary.
