Project Officer (biodiversity data compilation for Gola Rainforest (at home))
We're looking for someone to help with building biodiversity database using available historical data for the Gola rainforest. This opportunity focusses on helping the Senior Gola Data Manager to deliver historical database as a part of a large database management system implementation in Gola.
This opportunity will involve:
- Cataloguing historical data sources to ensure data completeness.
- Data quality and quantity checks, e.g. ensure data uniqueness, accuracy and validity
- Data standardisation by applying set standards such as date/time formats, measurement units etc.
Volunteers will be fully supported by the Senior Gola Data Manager and Senior Gola Conservation Scientist.
You'll need to be computer literate and able to confidently manipulate different types of data.
Essential skills:
- Familiarity with data handling software and tools such as Excel or similar (Access, PowerBI).
- Attention to details and analytical skills.
- Understanding the differences in biodiversity data types and surveys.
- Interest in tropical species.
- Time management skills.
- Problem-solving skills, with an ability to propose creative solutions.
Beneficial skills:
- ESRI ArcPRO and ability to use geoprocessing tools
- Database management skills
