Why we need you

We need your research skills to search for great locations, organisations and sites where we can promote our volunteering opportunities, from community noticeboards and Facebook sites to local clubs and organisations. This can involve searching online or using your own experiences and community knowledge.

We want to be as inclusive, innovative and as wide reaching as possible. There are people in our local communities with amazing skills, passions and experiences to share and we need your help to reach them. Your work will be an invaluable first step to finding the support, energy and talents nature needs.

We are particularly interested in your community research to help us recruit volunteer roles for our Kent Casework Hub Project (but this can be done from anywhere in the UK). Communities are worried that local wildlife is under threat and there is growing desire to challenge the planning system to protect our wild places. However, without support many do not have the confidence to get involved. The Casework Hubs project provides that support via an online platform where knowledge can be shared, and passion and resources combined. Conservation organisations and community members will be able to work together to build a network of empowered local activists.

We are piloting the first of these Hubs in Kent and are looking for help in advertising the volunteer roles widely. You don’t need to be an expert, or even have any wildlife knowledge

What will you be doing?

This is a short-term project which we estimate will take between 6-10 hours in October. It can be done from home flexibly around your other commitments. The tasks include:

  • Researching and investigating local opportunities in Kent for advertising including universities, volunteer centres, community hubs etc...
  • Posting adverts in the locations identified
  • Promoting opportunities on relevant social media
  • Registering and advertising the roles on external volunteering websites.
  • Keeping a record of where the opportunities are posted.

What’s in it for you?

This is an ideal way to make a difference and use your researching skills to Save Nature if you just have a short window of time available. It’s a flexible role that can be done as and when you want to from home.

You’ll get experience of how a large conservation organisation recruits volunteers, as well as getting to know the local area better.

The knowledge that you research will have a far-reaching impact.

What skills are we looking for?

We’re looking for people with

  • Computer skills – happy with spreadsheets, using the internet and online systems.
  • Experience in using social media.
  • Ability to communicate well in writing.
  • A friendly and approachable manner with good interpersonal skills.

Ongoing support about the project or roles is available from the Project Manager, and support in advertising the roles will be provided by one of our Volunteering Development Officers.

Thank you for reading this role description. Clicking on ‘more about this role’ and the downloadable pdf will give you just the generic role profile for this opportunity. A role profile is the family to which an opportunity belongs and informs vetting and training requirements and may not be an exact fit to the role described above
