Residential on Reserve (Less than 4 weeks) (South Stack)
Available from 27 October 2023 to 3 November 2023
Reserve:
South Stack is an ideal reserve to watch seabirds and choughs, with high cliffs, caves and offshore stacks, backed by 316ha/780 acres of heathland (Holyhead Mountain and Penrhosfeilw Common), and 43ha of coastal grass pasture. The RSPB Visitor Centre is located at the hub of the site and provides retail and catering facilities for around 185,000 visitors annually. Ellin's Tower, the RSPB Information Centre, is situated on the cliff edge overlooking the sea cliffs and auk colonies.
Why We Want You:
We have a new Visitor Centre which opened in April 2021 where you will be welcoming customers and ensuring they make the most from their visit by letting them know what they can see on the reserve and directing them to points of interest. It’s a great way to engage with visitors and share your passion for nature and the RSPB.
During the summer there is a viewing area at Ellin's Tower, with binoculars, telescopes and closed circuit TV. You will be interpreting the local wildlife to visitors, supplying them with information and providing opportunities for them to support the work of the RSPB.
Occasionally, we may need you to help in our cafe.
Please note volunteer placements are for a minimum of one week and the usual arrival/departure day is Friday.
