Practical Reserve Work (Garden Maintenance)

Why we want you:

With over 100,000 visitors a year, Leighton Moss is a very busy site. We have a fantastic sensory garden that is home to a range of plants, shrubs and cottage garden items. We are looking for green fingered enthusiast to maintain the look of the garden as well and form new ideas for plants that would work well in this environment. All plants are in line with the ecology of the reserve and are checked for their suitability. In the main all elements offer both a sensory and wildlife benefit. If you have a keen eye for gardening and a passion for the outdoors we would love to have you on board. Other duties will include, weed removal, pruning, general maintenance and cleanliness of the area with removal of leaf litter etc.

There is always the opportunity to learn new things and gain skills through volunteering, by working on a reserve, you'll naturally learn all about the work of the RSPB and how we manage the wildlife on our reserves, work in partnership with others and advocate to governments.

The skills you need

• An enthusiasm for nature and its conservation • A warm and friendly personality • A knowledge of seasonal plants and appropriate flora • The ability to work outside • Able to represent the RSPB and communicate with visitors as per RSPB policies • An awareness of Health and Safety

**Notes **: Appropriate training, equipment and uniform will be provided and expenses will be reimbursed where necessary.
