Available from 27 May 2023

Are you interested in getting outdoors, making new friends and helping nature thrive? Volunteering with RSPB provides all that and more.

When: Saturday 26th August 2023, 10am - 1pm.

Where: RSPB Window on Wildlife, 100 Airport Road West, BT3 9ED.

Activity: We will be removing ragwort from the site. Although this is a native plant that is great for biodiversity, it is toxic to our ponies, so we are removing it in anticipation of the ponies arrival in the autumn.

Please contact aoife.debhal@rspb.org.uk to sign up for the event.

This event is suitable for all ages, however anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

Please bring waterproofs and sturdy footwear.

This taster day is an excellent opportunity to get a sense of the practical habitat management work that our regular volunteers carry out, and a great chance to get outdoors in some wild and wonderful spaces! The RSPB Belfast Harbour Reserves are home to some of our most spectacular species in Northern Ireland, including common terns, black-tailed godwits, redshank and lapwing. Unfortunately, many of these species and the habitats they depend on are at risk of being lost - that's where you come in!

Belfast WoW features a freshwater lagoon which is home to many rare and wonderful birds and other wildlife. This part of the reserve is not open to the public, so this is an exciting opportunity to enjoy a very special slice of nature.

Join us to help nature thrive in Belfast!
