Youth Volunteer Leader (Work Party Leader for group of 13 - 17 year olds)

We are looking an additional Volunteer Work Party Leader fore our or group of 13 - 17 year olds who carry out practical maintainence work on the nature reserve. The work party runs on the third Saturday of the month from midday - 3pm.

Are you an inspiring leader who can take responsibility for running practical work activities for young people, inspiring them to develop a passion for nature. If so, this role could be for you.

This role carries a bit of responsibility, we are looking for a volunteer who will lead less experienced participants in practical work parties, ensuring risk assessments are followed and the activity is well organised so the young people can work safely and learn new skills. Being a leader is more than giving instructions and ticking checklists, it's about providing motivation and being willing to share your knowledge and skills. A DBS check and Safeguarding training are required before starting the role.

For this role you need:

  • Excellent communication skills; the ability to adapt language and approach for young audiences.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate young people.
  • Experience working with an outdoor environment and/or young people.
