Residential on Reserve (Less than 4 weeks) (Dungeness)
Available from 4 January 2025 to 12 December 2026
We are looking for people who would like to come and live and volunteer on one of the UK's premier reserves for up to one month. This is a varied role and we can tailor the opportunity to the volunteer with a variety of options including: Practical Conservation, Visitor Experience (including meet/greet and events), Retail, Surveying, All rounders (a little bit of everything).
So whatever your interest in the RSPB, Dungeness or nature we have an opportunity for you to live and breathe this wonderful reserve. Accommodation is free to all residential volunteers and we are open to people looking to stay for 1-4 weeks to get the most out of their time on the reserve.
Whichever role you would prefer to do, we can guarantee you will be immersed in this fantastic reserve with much of the reserve to yourself once the main gates are closed each evening. This role will suit anyone who only has a week or two spare and wants to try something different in a very special place.
This reserve is remote and although we hope to have other volunteers in the accommodation throughout the year, there may be times when this volunteer may be on their own in the house. A driving licence is preferred but not essential for some of these roles as the visitor centre/ shop is only 1 mile from the accommodation and we have bicycles available.
The room for this placement has a double bed. Please do not tick 'willing to share' unless you are applying as a couple.
There is no charge to take part in the scheme. It is your responsibility to cover the cost of your transport to and from the reserve, and to provide and cover the cost of your food during your stay. The RSPB will provide accommodation, together with basic services, free of charge for the period you are volunteering, and cover any expenses incurred as a necessary part of your work on the reserve
