Specialist/Expert Volunteer (Database Administrator)

We are looking for volunteers with specialist skills in SQL Database Administration to join our Data Development team. This role is all about taking on a few tasks as part of an existing team that supports the RSPB’s operations.

This work will vary depending on the specific role and timing and which team is looking for support, but it may include some of the following:

  • Providing consultancy in your area of expertise & offering training to develop teams in this area.
  • Leading meetings and collaborating on role-specific tasks.
  • Undertaking research and providing recommendations.
  • Engaging with stakeholders both internally and externally.
  • Responding to stakeholder enquiries.
  • Monitoring and recording work on spreadsheets or internal databases.

Full training and support will be provided depending on which team you are based with and what tasks you are undertaking but in general, we are looking for people with the following skills and experience:

  • The relevant experience, qualifications and/or professional memberships for your area of specialism.
  • Motivated to use your skills and expertise to Save Nature.
  • IT skills, creating documents, managing spreadsheets.
  • Excellent communication skills for engaging with different audiences, internal and external to the RSPB.
  • Organisational skills.
