Local Group Fundraising Officer (Fundraiser)
We are one of 140 RSPB Local Groups, running a range of activities for our members and the public. We support the RSPB both financially and by engaging people in its nature conservation goals. The group has existed for forty-seven years, and our current membership is around 180 households. Our current annual turnover is around £4,000 but we wish to increase our income to ensure the long-term viability of the group, continue our donations to the RSPB, and to enable us to take on new activities.
We are therefore seeking a Volunteer Fundraiser--a new role. We are looking for an experienced and innovative fundraiser who is committed to the success of the group, and the aims of the RSPB. An interest in birds or nature conservation, people skills, and good organisational skills would also be an asset. Since the group is run by volunteers, we only expect you to commit to a few hours a month of your time, including, ideally, attending a quarterly Committee Meeting, although this is optional. The role is highly flexible, working around your schedule.
You will work closely with the Treasurer and other Committee members, and in turn receive full support. The RSPB offers online guidance and training.
The role involves:
-
Raising money through a variety of means, for example, promoting existing fundraising initiatives such as EasyFundraising.
-
Crucially, we are also looking for someone who can devise new ways for the group to raise funds.
-
Potentially counting money and banking the donations.
This is a key opportunity for an individual to gain new skills, as well as supporting a long-standing and valued local community group and UK's biggest wildlife charity.
