RSPB Team Member (Brighton and Hove Swifts Fundraising Officer)
Swifts are in trouble, and they need our help. Over 58% of British swift numbers have been lost since 1995, making them a red-listed species on the list of Birds of Conservation Concern. The Brighton and Hove Swift Group (BHSwifts) are looking for a Fundraising Officer to oversee how the group’s generates funding to support the development of BHSwifts Group projects.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the plight of swifts and build momentum for public engagement and species recovery work with swift colonies in Brighton, which will be essential to help with the conservation of this species. You will get to work with Europe’s biggest nature conservation organisation and help towards conserving the world’s most aerial of birds.
This is an opportunity to develop and enhance your fundraising and proposal writing skills and you will have the experience of being at the forefront of our fundraising work for this species. You will join a friendly and supportive team of staff and volunteers based in the Brighton office and have the insight of how the RSPB is saving nature.
What you will be doing:
- Developing project proposals with the leadership team
- Seeking out funding opportunities for Brighton and Hove Swifts
- Engaging with other swift groups across the UK alongside Brighton and
- Hove to resource and experience share on other projects
- Engaging and forming relationships with local funding sources and partnerships
Skills or experience in the following would be useful, however we will provide you with all the necessary training and line manager support:
- Experience in seeking small grant funding
- Communication and organisational skills to work with others
- A willingness to take part in training and inductions and to be inclusive to all employees and volunteers
- Passion for joining a dedicated team of wildlife enthusiasts
