Do you enjoy meeting new people or would like to gain catering experience? We are looking for volunteers to help run the popular and friendly café on Old Moor nature reserve in Barnsley. This role is suitable for 16-18 year olds.

As part of our café team you will help to ensure that visitors have an enjoyable and safe visit. All this work requires a team of friendly and supportive people to help out. We simple can't run our café without volunteers.

As part of our café team, you will be serving customers hot and cold drinks, clearing tables, talking to customers about our food and drink options and any allergens, maintaining cleanliness standards and health and safety codes of practice.

Café team volunteers work on a rota to cover the needs of the site, this could be from a few hours a week upwards, to suit you.

As part of your role you will learn new skills and gain experience working in the hospitality industry, including great transferable skills, such as customer service, diplomacy, people engagement, following health and safety protocols. The money raised through our retail and catering contributes to nature conservation, so you are also helping to save nature!

The RSPB is committed to making our organisation diverse and inclusive, and, as such, are keen to encourage applications from everyone, of all ethnic backgrounds, as well as those with disabilities. We believe volunteering shouldn’t leave you out of pocket, so will reimburse travel expenses. We look forward to hearing from you!
