RSPB Team Member (Interviewer)

Opportunity image

What's the opportunity?

We’re looking for an engaging interviewer to help us capture what matters to our members via a series of short videos. This role is crucial in helping us tell the stories of our members; why they joined the RSPB and their experiences of their membership. You will be a key part of helping us grow the RSPB’s membership and continue the fight for nature’s future.

You’ll be interviewing members for videos that will be used internally and externally to highlight the value of our members and show how crucial they are to the continuation of our work. Videos will contribute to the increased internal understanding and appreciation of RSPB membership. This is an important step towards improving the member experience.

We’ll be holding a filming day at our HQ reserve, The Lodge, in May along with filming at further events throughout summer 2024.

You don’t need to be a nature or conservation expert. As long as you have enthusiasm, confidence, and can make others feel comfortable in front of a camera, we’d love to hear from you.

What will you be doing?

This role is all about speaking to members of the public, asking them questions to capture their experience of RSPB membership and what it means to them. We’ll pair you up with a videographer who will work closely with you to capture your interviews on film.

You’ll be:

  • Interviewing RSPB members for a series of short videos featuring a diverse range of people discussing their membership experience.
  • Attending an initial set filming day in May at the RSPB HQ, The Lodge.
  • Attending 1-3 (depending on your availability) further locations throughout the summer, interviewing members at event stands.
  • Working closely with a videographer throughout the filming process.
  • Liaising with the project manager to understand technical and creative specs.

What's in it for you?

This is a fantastic opportunity to work with the UK’s largest conservation charity on an exciting upcoming membership project. Our members help us restore, protect and care for the places our wildlife call home. This project is key in helping us achieve our membership goals for 2030 so that we can continue helping birds and other animals thrive.

As an interviewer, you’ll:

  • Spend the day speaking with others who are passionate about nature.
  • Contribute to a key membership project for the UK’s largest conservation charity, helping us reach more potential members and continue our work to save nature.
  • Receive bespoke training that can support you in future roles.
  • Have the opportunity to collaborate with others and help shape the interview structure.

What skills and experience do you need?

Essential:

  • Strong communication skills and ability to put people at ease.
  • An outgoing, conversational style.
  • Ability to converse with members and ask relevant follow-up questions.
  • Willingness to work outdoors.
  • Ability to signpost people to other parts of the RSPB for specific questions.

Desirable:

  • Experience of a similar role (it’s okay if this experience is limited!)
  • Related qualification in communications/journalism.
