RSPB Team Member (Trainer, Conservation Data Management Unit)
We are looking a volunteer with digital training skills to join our Conservation Data Management team to help grow our capacity. This role is about supporting our department to deliver scheduled training courses on our mapping and data management products and to provide help to colleagues across the organisation in their adoption of our software to support their conservation work.
We run scheduled training courses throughout the year in both our in-house Geographic Information System and in ArcGIS Pro, and author self-learning, html help and run a helpdesk. We also undertake software rollouts that involve onboarding sessions, drop-in sessions and prepare support materials. Our work is very varied, and our reach is organisation-wide.
We would welcome support from anyone with experience in delivering, authoring or designing digital skills training courses.
All work can be completed remotely, so we are open to support from volunteers anywhere in the UK.
The work may include some of the following: • Help deliver short remote training courses in our in-house GIS system and/or ArcGIS Pro. • Author training manuals, slides, videos, elearning modules and webhelp. • Provide helpdesk support for enquiries about mapping and GIS support.
In general, we are looking for people with the following skills and experience:
• Excellent communication skills for engaging with different audiences.
• Knowledge of document editing software.
• IT training experience (preferable, though training will be given).
• Knowledge of GIS (preferable, though training will be given).
• Love a good map!
This is a highly rewarding role and offers a chance to make a positive impact. You will be making a genuine contribution to nature conservation, so if that is your motivation, you'll find satisfaction in this role. This role provides an excellent opportunity to donate your time and skills to have real impact on our work. You will learn all about how the RSPB works and gain experience working for an environmental charity.
We like to think we're a friendly and welcoming team, so you'll have the opportunity to make new friends too.
