Opportunity image

Do you remember those fun days out as a child, exploring the wonders of the outdoors and nature? Do you enjoy meeting new people and want to make a positive impact for nature? If YES, come and be part of our Family Events team and help inspire families, children and adults, about the amazing wildlife we have here at Rainham Marshes.

We're looking for enthusiastic volunteers who can help with family focussed engagement activities, from welcoming people on arrival, to leading events and activities. Our events and activities are aimed at all age ranges from toddlers to families, new to nature and those who are already nature lovers.

Following a short period of training and working along side experienced team members, we will ask you to:

  • Provide a friendly welcome to all of our young visitors when they arrive.
  • Help deliver weekend or school holiday activities for under 18’s, including setting up and clearing away afterwards. Typical activities include pond dipping and minibeast hunting.
  • Assist with running events at Halloween, Christmas and Easter such as fetes and workshops.

We are looking for volunteers who are:

  • Confident and enjoy meeting and chatting to new people of all ages.
  • Enthusiastic about nature and wildlife and keen to engage and inspire families and young people.
  • Willing to learn new skills.
  • Able to work outdoors adapting to the challenges of the British weather!

This is a really rewarding and enjoyable role. You will be working with a friendly team on a beautiful nature reserve, you will have the opportunity to make new friends and spend time outdoors. Volunteering with us can fit around a part time job, higher education courses and family life. We do ask for a minimum of 1 day every month, but you are welcome to commit to as many days as you can for as long as you can.

We supply a uniform and reimburse your travel expenses, up to 25 miles each way.
