Residential on Reserve (Less than 4 weeks) (LIFE Raft Field Support)
Available from 20 December 2024 to 5 January 2025
We are looking for volunteers who would like to spend a week of two over the festive period on Rathlin, a stunning island just off the north Antrim coast.
As a residential volunteer you will be on call in case of any fieldwork required. This is a key part of our work to protect Rathlin's internationally important seabirds, which are threatened by non-native invasive brown rats. We are a friendly and supportive team, and this is a great opportunity to learn new skills and gain knowledge about wildlife conservation work. It would also give the chance to spend the festive period on island and meet more of the Rathlin community.
You would receive full Lantra Level 2 rodenticide training, as well as a day of 'in the field' training with a team member during the month of December which will cover ArcGIS and eradication principles. Accommodation is provided.
If you enjoy being outdoors, meeting new people, and hands on conservation work, then this role could be the perfect opportunity for you.
Please note that this role does involve a reasonable amount of physical activity, and that a driving license is required.
This volunteering runs from 20 December 2024 - 6 January 2025 and is a minimum of a week's stay.
