Visitor Centre Welcome (Pagham Harbour)

Pagham Harbour & Medmerry are such beautiful, special places that we want our visitors to love it as much as we do. We want them to have the best day possible when they visit and are looking for people who can welcome them and help them make the most of their visit.

You don’t need to be an expert - it’s more about showing them where they can get the best views of the amazing wildlife that lives here, suggest walks or serving them a cup of tea.

As one of our Welcome Volunteers you will undertake the following tasks

  • Provide a friendly welcome to visitors wherever you are volunteering that day, out on the reserve, in the hides or at the welcome area.

  • Having conversations with visitors and finding out how you can help them enjoy their visit, whether that's serving refreshments or where they can see wildlife.

  • Ensuring the welcome area is clean and tidy, leaflets are replenished, and sightings information is up to date.

You can choose a half day or full day shift to fit around your other commitments and full training and support will be provided for this role plus expenses are available for your home to work journey. This role will really suit you if you are a people person and can adapt your communication style to be able to talk to families with children and a diverse range of adults.

This is a rewarding and enjoyable role and brings the following benefits;

  • Working with a friendly team on a special nature reserve and spending time outdoors in beautiful surroundings.

  • Meeting lots of people and enjoying conversation that help them get the most from their visit.

  • Being part of a Team and making new friends

  • The opportunity to learn new things and gain skills through volunteering and learning all about how nature reserves are managed and the wildlife that is found there.
