RSPB Team Member (Campaigns Social Media Volunteer)
RSPB’s Campaigns and Mobilisation team is looking for a creative volunteer to help bring RSPB’s UK campaigns to life online. Through social media, we want to share powerful stories, celebrate victories for nature, and show people how they can make a difference. By joining us, you’ll help amplify our voice at key moments, whether that’s reacting to breaking news or highlighting a new way to get involved.
Your role:
As our Social Media Volunteer, you’ll help the RSPB Campaigns team create timely, engaging content to support our work across the UK. Tasks include:
- Creating posts that promote our campaigns, news, and success stories
- Highlighting the work of our Youth Council and young changemakers
- Helping develop how-to guides and action tips for our audience
- Supporting myth-busting content to counter misinformation
- Working with the Campaigns Social Lead to keep our messaging focused and engaging
What’s in it for you:
- Be part of a small, friendly, passionate team driving real change for nature
- Gain experience in digital communication, campaigning, and policy
- Develop storytelling and social media skills in a supportive environment
- Receive training, guidance, and feedback throughout your time
- Be a part of the campaigns run by Europe’s largest conservation organisation at a crucial time for our planet
Who we’re looking for:
Whilst experience working in content creation and conservation is a plus, we don’t require professional experience. What’s important is you are someone who:
- Has an interest in conservation, campaigning, or storytelling
- Enjoys writing and crafting content that speaks to a wide audience
- Can keep up with current events and trends in environmental policy
- Is confident working independently but happy to collaborate with others
- Preferably with some experience with content creation (e.g. blogs, social media, or videos) but this is not essential.
- Can bring enthusiasm and creativity
Time and location
- Half a day to two days per week (during working hours: 9am–5:15pm, Monday Friday)
- Flexible to fit around your schedule and the team’s needs
- Home-based, with communication via Teams and email
- Probation period lasting 3 months, with possibility of extension
