Visitor Engagement Volunteer (On Reserves) (Astronomy Event Leader, at RSPB Frampton Marsh)

We are looking for volunteers with an interest in astronomy to lead stargazing events, potentially both at RSPB Frampton Marsh and RSPB Freiston Shore.

The event leader would be responsible for:

Researching what is likely to be seen on the night, and advising reserve staff on how to best run the event. Managing the prebooked participants list, and dealing with any walk-ups. Providing an enjoyable and informative experience for all attendees at the event. Keeping an eye on the weather, and advising RSPB staff in good time if the event needs to be cancelled.

The reserve has a variety of binoculars and telescopes for birdwatching. Possessing your own astronomical telescope that others could also use would be a huge advantage.

This is very much a face-to-face role, so good interpersonal skills are essential, as is a knowledge of astronomy.
