Volunteer Coordinator (Franchises Lodge)
Do you enjoy supporting people and would you like to make a positive impact for nature? We are looking for organised people with excellent communication skills to join our team of Volunteer Coordinators and to help support our sites and operations.
Volunteer Coordinators undertake a wide range of tasks, including:
- Being the first point of contact for new and existing volunteers on administrative queries, e.g. all topics related to our volunteer management system (“Assemble”), expenses, event organisation.
- Volunteer data management in Assemble, e.g. missing contact details, updating volunteer recognition records.
- Tracking and organising volunteer Long Service Awards.
- Advertising new volunteer roles (creating opportunities in Assemble, external websites and in the local community where applicable) after alignment with the hiring manager, e.g. reserve warden.
- Lead on new volunteer inductions and dealing with queries from potential new volunteers. Note: we expect peak induction period in February-March (after New Forest Volunteer Fair) therefore we will highly appreciate extra time commitment from you to support us during this period!
- Supporting the Site Manager or project manager, reserve wardens and project officers with volunteer administration and development as necessary.
- Championing the RSPB annual volunteer engagement survey.
- Being part of the England Reserves Volunteer Co-ordinator Network, to learn and share best practice with each other.
We'll ensure you're provided with an RSPB laptop and access to the RSPB computer network so you can comfortably carry out your role at home.
Ideally we would also like you to come onsite one day per week so you can build relationships with existing volunteers, stay close to site activities and support Site Manager and reserve warden on operational tasks where applicable.
You'll be trained in everything you need to know beforehand and we'll support you in your role every step of the way.
Beneficial skills for this role are:
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- You need to be a great people person, friendly and approachable.
- Excellent telephone manner and written communication skills.
- Computer literacy, a confident user of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.
- An ability to lead/inspire others and work as part of a team.
- Creative and forward thinking.
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a small team.
- Excellent record keeper.
- Happy to work from home or office.
- Tact/diplomacy.
This is a rewarding and enjoyable role. You will be part of a small and friendly team of staff and volunteers. This is a chance to gain experience in working with people of all ages and to learn new skills and develop existing ones.
You'd be making a real difference by helping us keep the reserves well-supported by volunteers, ensuring they are safe for visitors and well-managed for wildlife.
There is room for development within the role, an opportunity to volunteer for additional days or role-share.
You'd be helping us to ensure that volunteers have a rewarding and enjoyable time with us. It's a wonderful opportunity to make a genuine contribution to wildlife conservation.
