Local Group Treasurer (Belfast)
Belfast Local Group (LG) is made up mainly of RSPB members who come together to support RSPB through Fundraising, Education, Conservation, Campaigning and Social activities. It is led by a committee whose members each have a role in planning and organising activities for the members of the Local Group. We are autonomous, but work under the financial and legal structures and guidance of RSPB. We have monthly Indoor Meetings with guest speakers to learn about mostly local wildlife and how we can help it. For Outdoor meetings, mostly monthly, we go to various habitats to see local or seasonal wildlife.
What you will be doing:
- To initially attend an RSPB online group training course, currently 1 day.
- To receive cash or cheques from LG members & attendees, when necessary.
- To tally and deposit same within 4 weeks to the LG account via your local Post Office.
- To record income of and make payments for the LG as required.
- To liaise with 2nd online signatory to make online payments.
- To keep all signatories up to date.
- To check RSPB LG online account at least monthly and download statements.
- To liaise with Membership Secretary re online membership payments.
- To update committee members of account at each committee meeting.
- To compile annual reports each financial year, one for LG AGM and one for RSPB.
- To ensure all LG financial records are retained for 7 years.
Skills you have:
- Be computer and internet literate, to be able to use spreadsheets, eg Excel and have use of a printer.
- Be organised and be a good organiser, with an eye for detail and accuracy.
- Be able to securely retain any cash or cheques for a limited period, (4weeks), until tallied, recorded and deposited.
- Be able to lodge deposits at your local post office as and when required.
- To update training as and when required.
- To liaise with RSPB Financial team who will provide training, supplies and support.
- To be a member of the RSPB and the Belfast LG
